Malted milk shakes definitely bring me back to my childhood. Going to the five and dime store weekly and always ordering the malted milkshake and grilled cheese. Now, I enjoy vegan versions of both without all of the digestive issues associated with dairy. Maca powder is a great plant based substitute for malted milk powder, it looks and tasted the same while providing a burst of energy, and reducing stress and blood pressure. Maca is also great for balancing hormones. Enjoy!!! XO
Ingredients:
1 ¼ cups of plant based milk (I’m loving soy these days for added protein)
½ frozen banana sliced
1 tablespoon either ground flaxseed or chia seed
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1-2 tablespoons of maca powder
1 scoop Juice Plus Vanilla Complete Protein Powder (or substitute your favorite)
1 cup ice
Mix in a high speed blender and enjoy! XO
